Himalayas met the serene Sunderbans
People from mighty Himalayas met the serene Sunderbans. This was the first initiative of our organization where school students of one landscape got an opportunity to meet the people of a different landscape. Students of Thurbo High School, Mirik, Darjeeling came all the way to Kolkata to start their voyage. They spent 3 rain-drenched days in the land of Sundari trees and majestic tiger and roamed in and around the creeks and canals by a launch along with us. Birds, crabs, pneumatophores, monitor lizards, spotted deer made their days while in the evenings we were sensitizing them about the place and importance of it by power point presentations, videos and interactive lectures. We took them to Sajnekhali Pakhiralay, Interpretation centre, Dobanki and Sudhanyakhali Camp. Though we could not see a tiger, but the king of Sunderbans has seen us for sure. The cheerful and excited faces told us that it was a successful trip.
